A British scientist claims to have discovered extraterrestrial creatures more than 40km above sea level in the stratosphere.
Professor Milton Wainwright from the University of Sheffield said the alien creature was discovered in the stratosphere, the furthest distance an organism has been found off Earth. Test results show they are six times larger than the size limit for a particle that can levitate from Earth at this altitude.
“We sent balloons and a sample into the sky, but we detected no pollen or grass, no pollution, and the air was completely pristine. These organisms have a certain structure and are not related to creatures on Earth,” Express quoted Wainwright as saying. The creature caused a small impact on the sampler and so he believed they came from space.
Professor Wainwright’s statement came after a student posted a letter announcing the discovery on Reddit. Wainwright had previously announced the discovery of microorganisms, possibly a type of microalgae, at an altitude of 26 kilometres above Earth level in 2013.
While many scientists think there isn’t enough convincing evidence, others believe Wainwright was completely wrong. But if proven authentic, his discovery could change what people know about the origin of life on Earth.
